Development

The development of Metal Max Xeno Reborn 2 (tentative name) / Metal Max Wild West was announced to the public on March 13, 2021 during a live stream for the 30th anniversary celebration of the Metal Max series.

Cancellation

On June 9, 2022 Kadokawa release a statement on twitter.com reading:

"We hereby inform that we have decided to cancel the development of Metal Max Wild West for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

We proceeded on the development of Metal Max Wild West as the series' latest title while aiming to release it in 2022. But after taking things like the current development progress into consideration, we ended up with the decision to cancel the development.

We heartfeltly apologize for causing a great bother to all related people and fans who had been looking forward [to this game] due to this decision."
