New Game Mechanics / Features[]
Metal Saga: Hagane no Kisetsu utilizes an isometric view (characters and objects facing in a variant of nortwest-northeast & southwest-southeast, instead of north-south-east-west orientation present in Metal Max to Metal Max 2: Reloaded) for all of its sprites and background designs. It is the only NDS game to utilize only the Touchscreen, while other console and handheld consoles use button configurations to move and interact with its characters and menus. This game is the first in the series to introduce shared seating for all of its party members when riding a "tank," even in combat (That mechanic got adopted to Metal Max 2: Reloaded, with certain tank classes having specific seating limits, with tanks and larger vehicles carrying four vehicles, and bikes carrying only one party member.)
